Print a Form Using a Custom Paper Size

Some forms require a custom paper size with continuous feed. Laser printers have limited paper sizes available to use. However, dot matrix printers allow you to use custom paper sizes.

Sage 50 uses the current Windows default printer settings on all reports and forms unless they are uniquely customized. Typically, the default print setup uses the current default printer and prints in portrait orientation. When selecting a form to print, you may have to change the paper orientation, size, or both (if not set up as a printer default) each time you print. For example, you might have to print special-sized invoices. To save time, you can customize the form to always print using the unique paper size or orientation.

I need detailed instructions for printing 7-inch check forms.

  1. From the Select a Report or Form window, select the form (for example, Invoice Continuous), then the Customize button located below the sample image on the window.

Sage 50 displays the form in the Forms Design window.

  2. From the Forms Design toolbar, select the Print button and then Setup . Select the Printer button at the bottom of the window.
  3. Select the printer from the drop-down list.

For example, you may have a second dot matrix printer set up to print just invoices.

  4. Select Properties and choose Custom Paper Size (or Postscript Custom Page Size) from the Paper Size list. You may need to select another option on the Properties dialog such as the Advanced button to see the Paper Size list.

Set the custom width and length; click OK until you return to the form.

I do not see the option to select Custom Paper Size.

If you do not see the option to select or set the custom paper size, use the following steps to create a custom form type. Then, you can select the custom form type in the Paper Size list mentioned in the steps above, if your printer allows custom paper sizes.

  1. In Windows, go to Start> Control Panel
  2. Select the area that allows you to view the installed printers (for example, Printers and Faxes or Printers and other hardware).
  3. On the window showing the installed printers, select File, Server Properties.
  4. On the Forms tab, select the Create a new form checkbox.
  5. Type the name that you want to use for the custom format.
  6. Enter the desired height and width for the form.
  7. Click OK..

  1. In the Forms Design window, click Save and save the form using an alternate name (for example, Invoice Long). Then, click OK.
  2. From the Forms Design toolbar, click Close to return to the Select a Report or Form window.
  3. To print your custom form, highlight the form name and click Preview and Print. Make your filter selections and then click Print/Email. Click OK to print the forms.
