Options
Select the Options button to determine the data criteria for the reports you want to see or print. For this report Sage 50 offers the following filter options:
- Budget: Select the budget to use for this report.
- Variance Calculation: The variance on the report can be calculated as actual minus budget, budget minus actual, or favorable/unfavorable. The favorable/unfavorable calculation depends on the account type.
A favorable calculation is what you would expect or hope to see for that account type. You would want to see assets, equity, and income exceed your budget; therefore, the favorable calculation for these types is actual minus budget.
On the other hand, you would hope that you could hold liabilities and expenses under budget; therefore, the favorable calculation for them is budget minus actual.
- Include Accounts with Zero Amounts: If you want the report to show variance figures even for accounts with zero balances, select this check box .
