Balance, Activity, and Year-to-Date Activity (Financial Statement Design)
This prints the amount of the balance in an account, the current month's activity in an account, or the year-to-date activity in an account, respectively. For income statement accounts only, the balance in an account is the same as the year-to-date activity.
In addition to the Width and Align title options, these are the options you can use for these types of columns:
Format/$: Check this to print dollar signs at the top and bottom of this column.>
Department Mask: This works with General Ledger to let you choose totals from selected departments, divisions, or locations. This depends on you setting up your account numbers so that they can be masked as in the following example:
In this example, you would type *****01 to mask all departments except 01. You would type ****M** to show only main branch numbers on the report.
Account Segments: If you have created account segments for your chart of accounts, click the arrow button to open the Select Account Segments window on which you can specify the account segments you want to display on this column. This feature allows you to choose totals from a selected department, division, or other segment section in your account ID. After clicking OK on the Select Account Segments window, the segments you selected will appear to the right of the Account Segments field. (Sage 50 Premium Accounting and higher)
Qualifier: Allows you to choose among net, budget, revised budget, only debits, or only credits.
Time Frame: Allows you to specify the period. This is often the current period, but prior year this month can be represented by Current per -12 (if there are 12 accounting periods in your accounting year) and the previous month can be represented by Current per -1.
If you have chosen Budget or Revised Budget as the qualifier, you also have the option of choosing Current + 1 through Current + 11 as the time frame. Choosing one of these options will display budget activity for the appropriate month (accounting period) following the current month. For example, Current + 3 will display activity for the month three months after the current one.
Round:Select this option to round all subsequent amounts in this column to whole dollars (or to thousands of dollars). Please note that even though the numbers printed on your report can be rounded, the numbers stored by Sage 50 for further calculations are not. Any totals printed are first calculated to the penny, and then rounded. This could result in a slight discrepancy from the printed details. This discrepancy is tracked by the account you specified for rounding errors in General Ledger Defaults.
