Access to Client Accounts from the General Journal

If you are using Sage 50 Accountant Edition, you have access to all of your clients' accounts from the General Journal, including control accounts. When you open the Select Accounts dialog in the General Journal (by clicking List in the Account column), the linked accounts will be blue. This affects the following accounts:

  • Inventory Assets
  • Accounts Payable
  • Sales Deposits and Prepaid Orders
  • Payroll Advances Receivable
  • Payroll Vacation Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Purchase Prepayments and Prepaid Orders

If your client has not given you sysadmin or full accounting rights, you will not have access to linked accounts from the General Journal.

Note: Transactions using control accounts must be processed in the company's home currency.

Re-numbering Accounts

In addition to being able to adjust and create transactions for all accounts in the General Journal, you can renumber client accounts from within the General Ledger. When you renumber an account from the General Ledger, the new number must be within the current range of the account's class.
