Text Object Properties (Forms Design)

How do I

Text objects are used for labels, instructions, or other information that is the same on each copy of the form printed. For example, on an invoice statement, the label "Invoice No." would be a text object.

Order: Each object has an order number, the order in which the object prints on the form. You can directly modify the order number in this window. To examine or change the order of objects in a list, right-click the object in the Design window and select Order from the pop-up menu. Tell me more about object order.

Text: This defines the text that makes up the text object. Type your text here, just as it should be displayed on the form. You can enter up to 2000 characters. Note that while typing, you do not need to press ENTER at the end of each line, since the words will wrap to the next line for you. Press CTRL+ENTER to move to the next line.

Select the Insert button to embed a Data Object within the sample text.

Font: You can choose to use your default printer font, or clear the check box and click the arrow to display the Windows Font dialog. From there, you can select the font name, style, size, and color from the fonts installed on your system. Check the Background Color box, then click the arrow if you want to fill the object with a background color.

Note: The only fonts available are scalable fonts. Tell me more about available fonts.

Size and Location: This specifies size and position on the form for the text object. You can specify a top and left position from the edge of the page. (This number can display inches or centimeters, depending on the display option you selected in the Options tab.) You can also set the height and width of the text object, in inches or centimeters.

Formatting: This specifies the alignment of the field (left, right, or center), the fill character, and whether you want to print zero dollar amounts. The Fill Character field allows you to enter a single character that will be used to fill up unused space within a field. For example, enter a period (.) as the fill character to print leader dots (Description.....). The fill character can only be used if the text fits on a single line on the form. For most fields, the default fill character is a blank character.

Border: This specifies the border properties of the field. You can include a box around the field, choose the line color, and specify the line thickness.
