Payroll Setup Wizard - Payroll Options Information

How Do I...

When you start working in the Payroll Setup wizard, the first windows you see will be about your options for staying compliant with payroll regulatory changes. Sage 50 offers different options for helping you do so.

If you just installed Sage 50, federal, state, and most local taxes will not calculate. To calculate these taxes within Sage 50 and to stay current with most regulatory changes, you must subscribe to a Sage Business Care plan and install the latest update. If you don't subscribe, you will have to manually calculate and enter your payroll taxes and deductions.

Sage 50 Managed Payroll

If you choose to use Sage 50's full service option, Sage 50 Managed Payroll, select that option and you're done with the wizard. Then, to order the service, click the Order Online Now link. This will take you to the Sage 50 Web site, where you can place your order.

Note: If you have already ordered the service from Sage 50, click the option and then click the Finish button.

  • If you want to process payroll yourself, click the second option--Do-It-Yourself In-House.
Do-It-Yourself In-House

If you choose to do-it-yourself, we recommend that you subscribe to a Sage Business Care plan that will help you stay up-to-date with your payroll tax formulas and allow Sage 50 to calculate your payroll taxes and other deductions. If you don't subscribe, you will have to manually calculate and enter your payroll taxes and other deductions and keep up with regulatory changes yourself. Read the information carefully, including the Learn More links.

When you've made your decision, click the Next button.
