Roles List Fields
Role
This is the name used to identify the role that users will have with the company. It should be a descriptive name that identifies the area in which the person works—Shipping Clerk. Role names are NOT case sensitive.
Role Description
This is a maximum 80-character description used to help differentiate between roles, especially if role names are similar.
New Role
Select this if you want to add a new role to the system. The Role Setup window will appear. Here, you can enter the role name and description and tell Sage 50 what areas of access you want the role to have.
View/Edit Role
If you want to see the settings for or change the access areas set up for an existing role, select that role in the grid at the center of the Roles List tab of the User Security window, and then select the View/Edit Role button. The Role Setup window will appear, and you can change settings to the role as needed.
Copy Role
You can copy all the security settings from one Sage 50 role to another. Select the appropriate role in the grid at the center of the Roles List tab in the User Security window, and then select the Copy Role button.
The Role Setup window will appear, asking you to enter a role name and description for the new role. Enter them, and click OK to add the new role to the system.
Delete Role
Select this to remove the role appearing in the Roles List of the User Security window. A message will appear asking you if you really want to delete this role. Click Yes.
