Build/Unbuild Assemblies Fields
The Build/Unbuild Assemblies window, available from the Tasks menu, includes the following fields:
Enter or select the assembly item ID to build or unbuild. To display a list of existing items, type ? in this field, or select the Lookup button. To add a new item, type + or double-click the field, which displays the Maintain Inventory Items window.
This field displays the descriptive name you entered for the assembly item when you entered it using the Maintain Inventory Items selection of the Maintain menu. You cannot change the name in this field.
The date defaults to the current date or the first day of the current accounting period if you are not in the current accounting period. Remember you can always use the pop-up calendar to find the date quickly.
Select the option corresponding to the appropriate action: Build or Unbuild the current assembly.
Enter any information you like, such as your initials or the date you build the assembly. You can enter up to 20 alphanumeric characters.
Enter the quantity you want to build or unbuild. The assembly must have already been entered using the Bill of Materials tab of the Maintain Inventory Items window. You cannot build more assembly items than you have components for, nor can you unbuild more assemblies than the quantity on hand.
This displays the amount of the assembly item on hand, minus quantities remaining to ship on open sales orders and accepted proposals (Sage 50 Premium Accounting and higher). It may also reflect amounts on purchase orders and work tickets, if you have chosen to include these quantities in Maintain Inventory Defaults. You cannot change this field.
This displays the quantity on hand for the assembly item. You cannot change this field.
This displays the figure you entered in the Qty field on the left side of the Build/Unbuild Assemblies window. You cannot change this field.
This field is the sum of the Quantity on Hand and Quantity to Build fields. It is for display only and cannot be changed.
The grid displays the Item ID, Description, Quantity Required, and Quantity on Hand for the component items used in making this assembly. You cannot change these fields; component items and amounts are established in Maintain Inventory Items.
Enter or select the employee who is supervising this build or unbuild. To display a list of existing employees, type ? in this field, or select the Lookup button. To add a new employee/supervisor, type + or double-click the field, which displays the Maintain Employees/Sales Reps window.
Enter the reason for building the assembly. For example, "Needed more," or "Per Brown Company invoice."
