Troubleshooting the Conversion from QuickBooks
Below are some potential issues you should be aware of for the conversion process to run successfully:
Should you receive a message from your firewall or anti-virus software during the conversion, you should select to Allow or Unblock any program called. This will ensure that your QuickBooks company converts correctly.
If you are converting QuickBooks 2006 or later and have your QuickBooks company open for the conversion, you may get this message. Be sure to click Yes. Otherwise, the conversion will stop.
If your company name appears as "No Name" in Sage 50, it is possible that your company name in QuickBooks contains a value that Sage 50 cannot read or accept. Sage 50 first uses the Company Legal Name. If this field is blank, Sage 50 will use the Company Name field (both fields appear in the QuickBooks Company Information window) as the name of your company in Sage 50. If both fields are blank or entirely numeric, Sage 50 will convert the company as "No Name."
After the conversion you can easily change the company name in Sage 50.
Sage 50 requires that you have a retained earnings account in the chart of accounts. If Sage 50 cannot locate the account, you will receive an error. Although QuickBooks automatically creates the retained earnings account for you when setting up your company, it is possible that you removed this account. To correct the error, you must force QuickBooks to create a new "Retained Earnings" account.
- Start QuickBooks and open your company.
- From the Reports menu, select Company & Financial, then Balance Sheet Standard.
Displaying the balance sheet forces QuickBooks to search for a retained earnings account. If it cannot locate one, it will create a new one for you.
- Close the report window, then try the conversion once again.
If you have one or more vendors set up in QuickBooks, you must have an accounts payable account listed in your chart of accounts before beginning the conversion. If you have one or more customers, you must have at least one accounts receivable account set up in your chart of accounts before beginning the conversion.
This information from QuickBooks is not converted to Sage 50 format. You must enter it manually. Tell me more about this.
If you want to convert your employees' social security numbers, you must allow Sage 50's conversion wizard access to the data. To do so, follow these steps:
- Start Sage 50's conversion wizard.
- When you see the Application with No Certificate window appear, check Allow this application to access personal data such as Social Security Numbers and customer credit card information.
- Click Continue.
Note: Sage 50 will not convert credit card information.
If you already specified that you would allow Sage 50's conversion wizard to run and the Application with No Certificate window has closed, you can follow these steps before starting the conversion over.
- In QuickBooks, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
- Select Integrated Applications from the left menu.
- Select the Company Preferences tab.
- Select Sage 50 Intuit Conversion Wizard in the list of applications that have previously requested access to QuickBooks.
- Click the Properties button.
- Check Allow this application to access Social Security Numbers, customer credit card information, and other personal data.
- Click OK..
Note: Credit card information will not be converted.
