Enter Dates in Sage 50
In almost every Sage 50 window, you are asked to select or enter a date. Dates define when a transaction takes place, identify certain fields in a record for example (Customer Since date), and define time period ranges in reports.
To enter dates manually
Type the date you want as M/D/YY, MM/D/YY, M/DD/YY, MM/DD/YY, or MM/DD/YYYY. Sage 50 will convert the date automatically to the Month DD, YYYY format. For example, if you enter 3/15/12, Sage 50 will convert the date to Mar 15, 2012.
Tip: To quickly enter a date within the current month, just type the day of the month. For example, if the current accounting period is March 2017 and you want to enter March 15, 2017, type 15. Sage 50 will automatically enter the date as Mar 15, 2017.
Enter dates using the Calendar button
Whenever you see the calendar button next to a date field, click it to pop up a calendar. After the calendar displays, you can select a date. If you right-click any Date field, the pop-up calendar will also appear.
If the year or month is wrong, simply select either the left (previous year or month) or right (next year or month) arrow buttons that display next to the year and month.
Tip: You can also press the Page Up key to move back a month, and the Page Down key to move forward a month. To change the year, you press CTRL + Page Up to move back a year, and CTRL + Page Down keys to move forward a year. Change the day by pressing the + and - keys (this also works without opening the calendar).
When you select the day with your mouse, the date field is automatically updated and the calendar closes. If you select the day with your keyboard, you must use the ENTER key to update the field and close the calendar. Close the calendar without changing the date by pressing the ESC key.
