An error occurred during backup. The backup process was unsuccessful. Please try again.

There are several reasons that can cause the backup process to fail. Below are some troubleshooting tips to consider:

  • Make sure you have a valid connection to both the Sage 50 data files and the Sage 50 backup file destination. This can include an alternate hard drive, network drive, or storage device. Your connection may be locked, busy, or no longer present. If you are unsure, reboot your computer and establish a valid connection.
  • If you are backing up to a storage device (for example, a tape drive or ZIP drive), make sure the hardware is connected and working properly.
  • Make sure you have "write" (archive) permissions to the original Sage 50 data files and backup destination, not just "read only."
  • Make sure you have enough RAM on your computer. You need at least 1 GB of RAM to run Sage 50. If you do, close all other programs before attempting the process again. Or, consider rebooting your computer to reestablish memory allocations.
  • Make sure you have plenty of free disk space. This includes temporary disk space where both the source drive (Sage 50 data files) and destination drive (Sage 50 backup file to be created) are located. You must have at least three times the free disk space available (for temporary storage) as what is used by the original data files.
  • If you are continuing to have hard disk or diskette problems, consider running Scandisk or some other disk repair utility before attempting the backup or restore process.
