Project Record Window
The Project Record window stores information about each contract or job that you track as a separate business activity, including project dates, tracking periods, budget amounts, and any additional information.
For example, you can enter your estimate of costs and revenues for a given job over a specified period of time. Once the job starts, you can use project reports to show the number of payroll hours allocated to a project, report on a specific project or tracking period (or periods), or compare your budgeting estimates to the actual amounts.
The project tab contains the project's Start and End Dates as well as any balances carried over from the previous fiscal year.
Revenue. Shows you amounts that were allocated to the project and paid in the previous fiscal year.
Expense. Shows you costs (such as materials) allocated to the project from the previous fiscal year.
Status. Use the options in this list to indicate the current status of the project.
When the Budget this Project box is selected, this tab allows you to enter budget information for the project.
Budget Period. The periods over which the annual budget for the project can be distributed. The periods displayed depend on your Budget period frequency. The default Budget period frequency is monthly, resulting in 12 budget periods.
Budgeted Revenue. The expected revenue amount for a project. Different amounts can be entered for each Budget Period.
Budgeted Expenses. The expected expense amount for project. Different amounts can be entered for each Budget Period.
Details. This button
opens the Detail Project Budget window, where
you can make a more detailed budget by associating multiple revenue and
expense accounts with one or more budget periods.
This tab contains any additional information that you want to include about the project. You can have this information appear in an Additional Information Notes window whenever the project is used in a transaction.
